Love Grows

Before we met you were the one I tried to find
Now we’re both here, I am for you and you are mine
One look is a glass of wine
One touch is an electric line

Sunshine and stars show us the way we want to go
Venus and Mars push us along and our love grows

I know it’s you makin’ each day go right for me
When we are close I hope you feel what good can be
Your love always helps me see
I know what it is to feel free

Sunshine and stars show us the way we want to go
Venus and Mars push us along and our love grows

Second Wife First

My first wife fed me cold beans and hot dogs
Now I get champagne and caviar
It’s not about her money, but my new wife’s a honey
Got me outta that pickup truck and into a Jaguar

I wish I’d met my second wife first
‘Cause now I see the world through different eyes
I stumbled into happiness and now I realize
I wish I’d met my second wife first

My first wife thought I was kinda useless
My new wife has taught me a thing or two
‘Bout wheelin’, dealin’, movin’ fast, makin’ lots of spendin’ cash
Nobody gets in trouble, ‘cause it’s legal revenue

I wish I’d met my second wife first
‘Cause now I see the world through different eyes
I stumbled into happiness and now I realize
I wish I’d met my second wife first

I know we’ll get around to having babies
She’s always after me to practice that
Our kids will all be gentlemen and ladies
Mama’s sure to make it clear she’s not raising alley cats

I wish I’d met my second wife first
‘Cause now I see the world through different eyes
I stumbled into happiness and now I realize
I wish I’d met my second wife first
            I’m here to tell ya!
I wish I’d met my second wife first
            I really mean it!
I wish I’d met my second wife first

The Choice

As the prairie wind races ‘cross the land I close my eyes and wish for you
Prayin’ I could spread my arms and fly that wind the way the eagles do
I would use all the stars, the sun, the moon to find my way
Where you are and I’d beg you to return with me and stay

What if I gave you everything you want, opened up to you my soul and mind?
Could you do the same for me, knowing you have secrets I’d be sure to find?
We can run away and never say the words that would give our love a voice
Or speak our hearts to help us find the winds of love, we have a choice

People lose each other in the fog and rain and darkness of their lives
Even when they’re close it’s hard to do the things they need to keep the prize
Yes, they love and they’re faithful to the vows they have made
But they don’t share everything that’s in their hearts every day

            Find The Sun

I’m old when I was young they told me everything was gonna be all right
Gets better every year they said look up see yourself fly out of sight
But they couldn’t really see into the future - Anticipate the way we are today
How the hell did we get here? Ninety-nine versus one
Busted my ass, now we can’t even find the sun

I’m old when I was young people made things in America
Technology invented here was the way to be a millionaire-ica
Corporations found that it would be cheaper to hide their income and build overseas
How the hell did we get here? Ninety-nine versus one
Busted my ass, now we can’t even find the sun

I’m old, when I was young, Congress worked for folks back home who cast a vote
They all knew each other and they listened, compromised and worked things out
Now it’s all about obstruction and money - Them that’s got will get what they want
How the hell did we get here? Ninety-nine versus one
Busted my ass, now we can’t even find the sun

I’m old, when I was young the doctor came to my house when I was ill
Put some potion in my mouth with a spoon and mailed my daddy a bill
Today it’s managed care and pharmaceuticals charging outrageous prices for care
How the hell did we get here? Ninety-nine versus one
Busted my ass, now we can’t even find the sun
So deep in a hole, I can’t even see the sun

Spoke Too Soon

I told you when I met you I would never forget you
And that expression seemed to make you smile
Words came to me easily and what I said was pleasing you
And so I thought that everything was fine
I looked for things to say to you and every single day
I felt like all the famous poets that we’ve known
One day I made you frown and that seemed to turn things ‘round
‘Cause suddenly I found myself alone

I tried not to exaggerate but I prob’ly made a big mistake
‘Cause I asked you to think about a honeymoon
But I guess I jumped the gun ‘cause I reckon I made you run
Sorry ‘bout that baby, but maybe I spoke too soon

I called you with a mission that I was gonna listen
And not be shootin’ off my mouth so much
The more I heard from you found out talking made you blue
You’d be happy with less talkin’ and more touch
My language was befuddling what you wanted was more cuddling
Obviously that was what I missed
Every time I interrupted your desires got disrupted
‘Cause all you really wanted was a kiss

Next Generation

Smart phones confuse me
Don’t own a single app
Modern music doesn’t move me
Can’t stand that crazy rap
Twitter, Facebook, reality TV
Really aren’t my thing
Used to live on the cutting edge
But times sure have changed

I’m not the next generation anymore
Each passing year, I lose influence here
And realize the irrefutable is clear
I’m not the next generation anymore

National debt runs rampant
Right off a fiscal cliff
Global warming’s a topic
That needs some dealin’ with
It’s time for all the twenty somethings
To try a fresh perspective
Maybe their new approach to the world
Can be more effective

What we all strive to achieve is that the legacy we leave
Won’t make us ashamed or ill-framed

Easy For Me

I believe that livin’s somethin’ we should share ‘cause it’s
Not as hard to cope when I got someone there who will
Reach out to me when I am down

Lovers help each other when they’re both afraid
When they give it or they take it, it’s an even trade
Ev’ryone wins when love is around

‘Til then I will try and I know I’ll get by
‘Til love makes this life easy for me

Sure I know it’s possible to get along without
Someone standin’ there with me to make me strong because
That’s how I live most of the time

Hopin’ that the change will happen pretty fast but I’m
Thinkin’ when you see me you won’t have to ask because
When love arrives I’m gonna shine

Meanwhile I will try and I know I’ll get by
‘Til Love makes this life easy for me
