| HOST A HOUSE CONCERT and invite Wayne to perform! |
This is a great way to PARTY! Many house concerts begin with a pot-luck meal prior to the concert. Concert? It's really more of an intimate, family-style gathering, where listeners have an opportunity to interact with the musician(s), sing along and just have fun! Other hosts invite guests to bring their favorite dessert, which everyone (including the musician) enjoys during a break in the music. Still others provide everything for their guests. It's up to you! Most musicians will work with you on compensation. Some will even perform for a chance to sell some CDs. Because some hosts are uncomfortable with inviting friends and then asking them to pay a cover charge, a large jar can be placed so people can give free-will donations to the musician. It is normally the host's responsibility to bring the donation jar to everyone's attention. House concerts have been going on for decades. Some have given rise to Folk Music "Societies" or clubs, where afficionados gather at regular intervals to hear everything from local musicians to national acts. Many such organizations began during the Great Depression, grew in popularity, then moved out of homes and into larger concert venues. Some concerts are regularly hosted at the same location and are open to the public. Of course, that's not for everyone, but there are many such locations to be found. Patrons eagerly pay or donate a fraction of big-venue prices for this kind of unique, up-close-and-personal opportunity. There are many places to learn more about hosting a house concert. Many Internet sites can be found on any search engine. Simply type "house concerts" into your favorite search engine and it will show you more than 200,000 Internet sites where great ideas, great parties and great musical experiences begin! If this new/old way to have fun appeals to you, we hope you'll contact Acoustic Vision Productions to book Wayne Hamilton into your home. His warm, friendly style is sure to make you and your guests feel comfortable. ENJOY! |
